Mold Removal Experts
Certified Inspections, Inc. provides detailed action plans (protocols) for the safe and effective removal, remediation and cleaning of mold, as well as a list of corrective measures to ensure that it never comes back again. New York State mandates that there must be separate mold assessor companies and mold remediation companies, and that no company is allowed to do both. In addition, a mold remediation company is not allowed to inspect or do any work on a moldy property until an assessor first does the inspection and testing. After the assessment testing, we provide the protocol or blueprint that the remediation company must follow. So we are the first ones to call for a suspected mold problem in Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Rockland, and Orange Counties, as well as New York City, Connecticut and New Jersey to protect the health of your family and your investment for years to come.
Certified Inspections, Inc. is the #1 most trusted leader in the mold field with over 24 years of experience. We are licensed mold assessors and home inspectors who serve the greater NY, NJ & CT areas and pride ourselves with courteous, rapid response, comprehensive mold testing, detailed action plans to get rid of the mold, and consultations on how to keep it from coming back, which protects your family and investment for years to come.
In New Jersey and Connecticut, there is no licensing, but since Certified Inspections, Inc. also services those states, you can still hire a mold inspector who is held to the rigorous standards of training and ethics that are demanded for licensing in New York.

Mold and mildew, another name for mold, is a fungus that can be harmful to humans and pets when found in large enough quantities inside a building. It can be any color – not only black, and sometimes smells and other times, has no odor. It can cause respiratory disease, flulike symptoms, memory loss and cancer. Mold spores float in the air and are so tiny, you cannot see them. With our state-of-the-art equipment, we can collect samples of the air and analyze them to determine whether you are breathing any unsafe levels of mold, as well as what kind of mold it is, how that type can affect you, what caused it, how to get rid of it and how to keep it from returning.

Trusted Clients:
Mold Removal and Mold Remediation
In 2016, New York State passed a law making it illegal for a contractor or company to remediate/remove mold until a separate independent mold assessor has tested it and written a protocol or “action plan” for a remediation contractor to follow.
There are officially now 2 different types of contractors: mold assessors and mold remediators. It is illegal to do both because it is a conflict of interest. First an assessment must be done before calling in a remediator. This was designed to protect the consumer against mold removal companies charging them for unnecessary services (oftentimes, what appears to be mold is in fact, not), and for either cleaning too much or too little. A system of checks and balances was needed and now made into law.
Certified Inspections, Inc. performs mold assessments only. If mold removal is needed we will write treatment protocols or “action plans” if necessary and can provide a list of qualified contractors for the remediation.
After the remediation, we return to re-test and if the job was not performed properly, the remediator must do more cleaning until we certify the job.
If you think or are positive you have mold, first make an appointment with us do perform the assessment.
Mold Removal & Testing
Mold testing, or the mold assessment, which is the first step to resolving a mold problem, is paramount because sometimes what you are positive is mold turns out to not be mold at all. Many other substances have the same appearance. So you may be worried about nothing!

We also perform full home inspections and environmental testing for such health hazards as radon, electromagnetic fields (EMFs), water quality, VOCs, formaldehyde, allergens and other irritants. For a full view of our services, visit our website: www.certifiedinspections.com

Great Advice!
“I had an unknown plumbing issue in my office that was going on for quite some time and caused some water damage on my flooring. Once I realized what was happening, I panicked thinking my office was covered in mold! I had no experience with these issues, and immediately found Certified Inspections on google and gave them a call. Mark was AMAZING! He is so knowledgable and gave me great advice right away! He even answered my questions about my insurance and what could possibly be covered with my policy! So thankful!”

Saved Us Thousands!
“When we were selling our house, the buyer’s home inspector told us we had a bad mold problem in the attic, but he never did any testing. We called Certified Inspections and they took several samples and found that the black stuff on the wood wasn’t even mold. They saved us thousands of dollars in cleaning costs and the deal went through. Thank you to Mark and Certified Inspections!!”
Daniel & Ellie R. | Greenwich, CT

Mark is Amazing!
“Mark answers the calls and is so easy to reach. He was so informative, it was amazing. After having 2 mold tests done with different companies, we contacted Certified Inspections for an objective third party opinion Mark stayed on the phone with us for more than 30 minutes thoroughly going over everything and explaining what we should be concerned about. Thank you so much for being so helpful and kind during this time, and resolving our problem once and for all!”
Jeff L. | Westchester County, NY

Highly Recommend!
“When we thought we had mold because our kids were getting sick all the time, we called Certified Inspections. Mark inspected our house from top to bottom and took a lot of time to explain everything to us in detail, including the fact that testing is required before remediation can be done, so that there is no conflict of interest, and so unnecessary work wouldn’t get done, or get done the wrong way. I greatly admire his kindness, honesty, and integrity. After he finished, we were confident we would never have another mold problem again. I highly recommend working with this company if you want the job done right by someone you can trust.”
Ted K. | Manhattan, NY

Huge Help!
“I was worried that my recent health issues were caused by mold so I called the folks at Certified Inspections who were recommended to me by my friend. They spent a long time on the phone with me asking me about my symptoms and various things about my house and workplace, and concluded that mold could not be a cause of my illness. They directed me to the proper specialist who diagnosed and treated me. I feel much better now and Certified never even charged me for the invaluable consultation!”
